Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Dwayne Zinger
Dwayne Zinger was born July 5, 1976 in Coronation, Alberta. A free agent signing by the Washington Capitals in the summer of 2002, Zinger is a graduate of the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

A hulking defenseman, Zinger played four years of collegiate hockey at Alaska-Fairbanks where he was an All-WCHA Honorable Mention in his senior year before making his professional debut with the AHLs Cincinnati Mighty Ducks in the latter stages of the 99-2000 season.

Over the course of the next four seasons, Zinger spent most of his time with Cincinnati before joining the AHL's Portland Pirates in the fall of 2002, after signing with Washington earlier that summer. Zinger spent the better part of two seasons in Portland before seeing his first NHL action with the Caps in the latter stages of the 2003-04 season.

Mid-way into the 2005-06 season, Zinger was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes by the Capitals in exchange for Doug Doull.
