Chad Wiseman was born March 25, 1981 in Burlington, Ontario. The eighth round, 246th overall selection of the San Jose Sharks in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Wiseman is a graduate of the OHL.

The Burlington, Ontario native spent the better part of three seasons with the OHL's Mississauga Ice Dogs before ending his junior career with the Plymouth Whalers. After a strong rookie season in 2001-02, Wiseman continued his strong play in 2002-03 registering 52 points (17-35-52) in 77 games while playing a handful of games with the parent club.

In the summer of 2003, Wiseman was acquired by the New York Rangers and went on to spend the majority of the season with the club's AHL affiliate in Hartford, while seeing limited action with the parent club.

In the summer of 2006, Wiseman was signed as a free agent by the Washington Capitals.
