Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Antoine Vermette
Antoine Vermette was born July 20, 1982 in St-Agapit, Quebec. The second round, 55th overall selection of the Ottawa Senators in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Vermette is a graduate of the QMJHL.

An offensively gifted forward, Vermette played one season with the Quebec Remparts before going to star for the Victoriaville Tigres over the course of the next three seasons. In his four year junior career Vermette tallied 218 points (96-122-218) while helping Victoriaville reach the Memorial Cup final in 2002, only to come up short against the WHLs Kootenay Ice.

In 2002-03, Vermette made his professional debut with the AHL's Binghamton Senators, tallying 62 points (34-28-62) in 80 games before making his NHL debut with the parent club in 2003-04. In his first season with the Sens, Vermette tallied 14 points (7-7-14) in 57 games.

In an effort to solidify their need in goal, Ottawa traded the crafty winger to the Columbus Blue Jackets at the 2009 trade deadline in exchange for net minder Pascal Leclaire.

In his first full season in Columbus Vermette would set career highs in goals, assists and points, with 27, 38 and 65 respectively. Unfortunately his production would tail off the following two seasons and in the days leading up to the 2012 NHL trade deadline Vermette was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for Curtis McElhinney and a pair of draft picks.

On February 28, 2015, Vermette would be traded to the Chicago Blackhawks at the trade deadline for Klas Dahlbeck and a first round draft choice. After finishing the season in Chicago and winning the Stanley Cup, Vermette would return to Arizona where he signed a two year contract on July 1, 2015.

After just one season in Arizona, in which he scorer 17 times and added 21 assists, Vermette was bought-out by the club and became an unrestricted free agent. He signed with the Anaheim Ducks in August 16, 2016 and joined the club the following season.
