Cory Larose was born May 14, 1975 in Campbellton, New Brunswick. A graduate of the BCJHL, Larose went on to play four years at the University of Maine where he registered 180 points (61-119-180).

An offensively gifted forward, Larose was named to the Hockey East First All-Star Team and to the NCAA East Second All-Star Team in 99-2000 before making his professional debut in 2000-01. A free-agent signing by the Minnesota Wild in the spring of 2000, Larose split his time between the IHLs Cleveland Lumberjacks and the ECHLs Jackson Bandits.

In the summer of 2001, Larose joined the AHLs Houston Aeros and went on to register 64 points (32-32-64) before signing as a free-agent with the New York Rangers in February 2003. Upon his arrival with the Rangers, Larose went to spend the majority of his playing time with the team's AHL affiliate in Hartford before making his NHL debut with the parent club during the 2003-04 season.

In the summer of 2006, Larose was acquired by the Atlanta Thrashers.
