Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Alexandre Giroux
Alexandre Giroux was born June 16, 1981 in Quebec City, Quebec. The seventh round, 213th overall selection of the Ottawa Senators in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Giroux is a graduate of the Ste. Foy Gouverneurs QAAA.

A skilled forward, Giroux joined the QMJHL's Hull Olympiques in 1998-99 and went on to play parts of three seasons with the club before joining the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies midway through the 2000-01 season. Over the course of his junior career, Giroux registered 226 points (111-115-226) before going on to make his professional debut with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins in 2001-02.

After one season in Grand Rapids, Giroux and the Senators AHL affiliate moved to Binghamton where he would play parts of two more seasons within the organization before having his rights acquired by the New York Rangers in the latter stages of the 2003-04 season. Upon his arrival with the Rangers organization, Giroux was assigned to the club's AHL affiliate in Hartford and continued to hone his skills before making his NHL debut with New York during the 2005-06 season.

In the summer of 2006, Giroux was signed as a free agent by the Washington Capitals. As member of the Capitals, Giroux would spend the majority of his time with the club's AHL affiliate in Hershey and appear in a handful of games with Washington. The following summer, he signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Thrashers. With the Thrashers, Giroux was sent to the club's AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves. He tallied 19 goals and 41 points in 44 games with the Wolves before he was dealt to the Washington Capitals.

On July 1, 2010, Giroux inked a one-year deal with the Edmonton Oilers as an unrestricted free agent.
