Dan Snyder was born on February 23, 1978 in Elmira, Ontario. A graduate of the OHL's Owen Sound Platers, Snyder registered 221 points (75 goals, 146 assists)in 230 career games.

A tight-checking forward, Snyder signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Thrashers following the 1998-99 OHL season. In his first three pro seasons, Snyder helped the IHL's Orlando Solar Bears capture last Turner Cup in league history and the AHL's Chicago Wolves first Calder Cup title while playing his first NHL games with the Thrashers.

In 2002-03 Snyder played in 36 games with the Thrashers registering 14 points 10-4-14 before he and teammate Dany Heatley were involved in a high speed car accident in Atlanta on September 29, 2003 coming back from a team function. Snyder underwent surgery for a skull fracture but never emerged from his coma and passed away on October 5, 2003 from massive brain injuries.

At the time of his death Dan Snyder was 25-years old.
