The Philadelphia Flyers drafted Sorel, Quebec native Michel Belhumeur 40th overall in the 1969 Amateur draft. Born on September 2nd 1949, the goaltender began his career with the Drummondville Rangers of the Quebec Junior Hockey League in 1968-69, then joined the Quebec Aces of the American Hockey League the following year. After a few more years of developing in the AHL, Belhumeur made the leap to the National Hockey League during the 1972-73 season when he got into 23 games with the Flyers, winning nine games and posting a 3.22 goals against average.
