Goalie George Maneluk played four games for the New York Islanders in 1990-91. After a fine junior career he played several years in a number of minor pro leagues.
The Winnipeg native played briefly at the University of Manitoba before joining the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL. He was selected 76th overall by the Islanders in 1987 then returned to junior where he won 24 games. The young backstopper played most of his first two pro seasons with the Springfield Indians of the AHL.
In 1990-91 Maneluk played for NHL games before returning to his regular duties in the AHL. Before retiring in 1996 he helped Springfield reach the Calder Cup semifinals in 1993 and won a personal high 27 games for CHL's Wichita Thunder in 1994-95.
