Goaltender Mike Minard played one game for Edmonton Oilers in 1999-00. He was best known as an efficient minor pro veteran in a number of leagues.
Born in Owen Sound, Ontario, Minard was a junior B standout with the St. Marys Lincolns before moving on to the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCJHL and the OHL's Detroit Whalers. He was chosen 83rd overall by the Oilers and was a useful back up in the ECHL, UHL, IHL and AHL for several years while winning his only NHL start in 1999-00. Minard signed as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2001 and played the finest hockey of his career for the AHL's St. John's Maple Leafs.
