Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Mark Bell
A native of St. Paul's, Ontario, the big centre idolized Mike Craig growing up. Mark Bell made his mark during four seasons with the Ottawa 67s, and was part of a Memorial Cup championship in 1998-99.

A bronze medalist with Team Canada at the 2000 World Junior championship, Bell was thrilled to become the first choice, eighth overall selection of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. After four seasons in the OHL, Bell jumped to the pro ranks in 2000-2001, playing with the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL as well as 13 games with the Hawks.

Born August 5, 1980, Bell became a full-time Hawk in 2001-2002 and has become one of the club's more durable and reliable players.

Following parts of five seasons with the Blackhawks and coming off of a career high in points with 48 (25-23-48) in the 2005-06 season, Bell was dealt to the San Jose Sharks in July, 2006. He would spend an entire season with Sharks, but fail to match his career high point total set the previous season. After the Sharks were eliminated from the playoffs, the club sent Bell to the Toronto Maple Leafs with netminder Vesa Toskala.
