Milan Kraft was born October 20, 1980 in Plzen, Czech Republic. The first round, 23rd overall selection of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Kraft played in the Czech Republic Junior and Senior League before making his North American debut in 1998-99 with the WHL's Prince Albert Raiders.

An offensively gifted two-way center, Kraft played two seasons in the WHL with Prince Albert tallying 155 points (74-81-155) in 124 games before making his professional debut in 2000-01. In his first three pro seasons, Kraft has split his time with the Penguins and their AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

In 2003-04, Kraft became a regular with the Penguins, establishing career highs in goals with 19 and points with 40. After appearing in 207 games through four seasons with the Penguins, Kraft rejoined Plzen to play for HC Lasselberger Plzen of the Czech Extraleague during the NHL lockout. He has since remained overseas competing in his home country.

On the international stage, Kraft represented his homeland at the 2000 World Junior Championships, leading his team to a Gold Medal and being named Outstanding Forward. In the spring of 2004, Kraft made his World Championship debut.
