Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Artem Chubarov
Russian center Artem Chubarov spent three years with Torpedo Nizhny then two more with Moscow Dynamo before packing his bags to come to North America to continue his hockey career with the Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks had drafted Chubarov in the second round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft and was in their line up a year later.

Chubarov spent just 14 games in the minors during his rookie season while the rest of his time was spent with the Canucks. In 49 games he scored one goal and added eight assists. His second season in North America was a write-off with injuries limiting him to just 11 games and only of those coming with the Canucks. In 2001-02, Chubarov played 19 games with the Manitoba Moose of the AHL with the rest of his season being spent back in the NHL.

A gold medallist with Russia at the 1999 World Junior Championships, Chubarov's improved play earned him a regular spot on the Canucks roster and in 2003-04, he played in at the time a career-high 65 games. Despite a quick exit from the 2004 post season, Chubarov represented his homeland at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey.
