Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jonathan Hedstrom
Jonathan Hedstrom was born December 27, 1977 in Skelleftea, Sweden. The 9th round, 221st overall selection of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Hedstrom played the early part of his career with numerous club teams in Sweden before making his North American debut in 2002-03.

However, Hedstrom would find himself suiting up for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks instead of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team who originally drafted him back in 1997. In his first season with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in 2002-03, Hedstrom played in only a handful games, instead, honing his skills with the team's AHL affiliate in Cincinnati where scored 35 points (14-21-35) in 50 games.

After only one season in North America, Hedstrom returned to his homeland and to the Swedish Elite League. Upon his return to Sweden, Hedstrom helped Team Sweden capture a silver medal at the 2004 World Championships in Prague, Czech Republic and would suit up for his country again in 2005.
