Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Vadim Sharifijanov
Right-winger Vadim Sharifijanov entered the 2001-02 season hoping to return to the NHL. A tricky offensive player who could battle in the corners, he played parts of three seasons in the NHL in the late 90s before he was relegated to the minors.

Born in Ufa, USSR, Sharifijanov played with the local Salavat club before joining the Central Red Army. He was taken 25th overall by the New Jersey Devils in 1994 and spent three years improving his game with the AHL's Albany River Rats. He followed up a 23-goal effort for Albany with solid play in 53 games during his first full NHL season in 1998-99.

The young forward started slowly in 1999-00 and was sent to the Vancouver Canucks in a deal involving several draft choices. Sharifijanov was a decent role player for the Canucks but couldn't make the team out of training cam the next season. Instead, he scored 20 goals while excelling on the defense corps of the Kansas City Blades of the IHL.
