Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Eric Manlow
Eric Manlow was born April 7, 1975 in Belleville, Ontario. The second round, 50th overall selection of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Manlow is a graduate of the OHL's (1991-1995) and the Detroit Jr. Red Wings (1994-95).

An offensively gifted player, Manlow spent four seasons in the OHL before making his professional debut with the IHL's Indianapolis Ice in 1995-96. Prior to joining the Ice, Manlow was instrumental in helping the Jr. Red Wings caputre the OHL title and earn a sport in the Memorial Cup tournament before losing in the final to the host Kamloops Blazers.

In his first five seasons of pro hockey, Manlow saw action in the ECHL, IHL and AHL before making his NHL debut with the Boston Bruins during the 2000-01 season. Manlow went on to play eight games with the Bruins that year and three games the following year while spending the majority of his time with the team's AHL affiliate in Providence.

After parts of three seasons with the Boston organization, Manlow was acquired by the New York Islanders. Upon his arrival on Long Island, the Belleville native suited up for eight games with the parent club in 2002-03 and 18 games in 2003-04, while spending the majority of his time with its AHL affiliate in Bridgeport Sound.

In the summer of 2004, Manlow joined the Detroit Red Wings signing on as a free agent. The centreman would spend the next few seasons with the Red Wings' AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids before signing as a free agent with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL. Upon making his professional debut in 2001-02, Manlow continued to hone his skills in the AHL, while seeing increased ice time over the course of the next two seasons. He continued to see action with both the Islanders and their AHL affiliate in Bridgeport before he signed overseas to compete.
