Ryan Ready was born November 7, 1978 in Peterborough, Ontario. The fourth round, 100th overall selection of the Calgary Flames in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Ready is a graduate of the OHL's Belleville Bulls.
A gritty forward with offensive capabilities, Ready played four seasons in Belleville registering 229 points (94-135-229), captaining the Bulls to the OHL Championship and a Memorial Cup appearance in 1999. An OHL First Team All-Star in 1999, Ready went on to make his professional debut with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch in 1999-00.
Coming off a solid junior career Ready toiled in the AHL and IHL for six seasons before getting his first taste of the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers during the 2005-06 season. A free-agent signing by the club in the summer of 2004, Ready was instrumental in helping the club's AHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms capture the 2005 Calder Cup title.
