Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Ryan Mulhern
Ryan Mulhern was a high school hockey star and decided the best route to a possible pro hockey career would be through the college ranks. Over the past 15 years college hockey has proven to be another legitimate avenue for players to hone their skills in an effort to reach the pinnacle of hockey success, the NHL.

Mulhern enrolled at Brown University where he played for four years from 1992 to 1996. Coming out of college he signed a minor-league deal with the Hampton Road Admirals of the ECHL where he recorded 38 points in 40 games. He originally had been selected in the eighth round, 174th overall in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames, but was never signed to a contract. In March, 1997 Mulhern signed a free-agent deal with the Washington Capitals and was called up to play three games in the NHL in 1997-98.

Mulhern played another two years in the AHL before deciding to retire from active competition.
