Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Larry Zeidel
Larry Zeidel was one of many solid blueliners during the NHLs six-team era who was always on the fringe on making it to steady employment in the big league but never quite getting there.

In 1951-52, his first NHL season, he saw action in 19 regular season games and five playoff games with the Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings. The next year, he appeared in only nine games with the Wings and was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks prior to the 1953-54 season where he appeared in 64 games for Chicago. It would be another 14 years before he saw action in the NHL again.

Zeidel's minor-league career saw him spend a majority of his time with the Hershey Bears of the AHL where he won back-to-back Calder Cup championships in 1957-58 and 1958-59. He was also a member of the 1963-64 Calder Cup champion Cleveland Barons.

He made his way back to the NHL with the expansion Philadelphia Flyers, and played 57 games in the 1967-68 season along with another nine games the following season before he retired from professional hockey after 18 seasons in the puck game.
