Right-winger Gord Williams played a couple of games for the Philadelphia Flyers in the early 80s. He was an explosive scorer in junior and a solid minor leaguer though his NHL aspirations fell short.
Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Williams was a standout in the AJHL with the Taber Golden Suns. He later notched consecutive 50-goal seasons with the WHL's Lethbridge Broncos and was taken 119th overall by the Flyers in 1979. During his relatively short three year pro tenure, Williams was predominantly with the Maine Mariners of the AHL. In 1981-82 he scored a personal high 31 goals and went out on a positive note with 26 goals for Maine in his last pro season the next year.
