Archie Wilder was a left-winger who suited up for 18 games with the Detroit Red Wings in 1940-41. Most of his career was spent in the minors and the Western Canada Senior league.
Born in Melville, Saskatchewan, Wilder started out with the Weyburn Beavers and the Saskatoon Wesleys in the mid-30s. He then moved up to the MOHL and was a solid two-way worker for the Detroit Pontiacs for a couple of years. Wilder was seen as a prospect by the Red Wings and was sent to the AHL's Indianapolis Capitals in 1939 to further his development.
The solid winger played 18 NHL games for Detroit in 1940-41 but was returned to the minors before the end of the season. In 1941-42 he joined the senior Saskatoon Quakers then spent two years in military service. After the War he skated with the Calgary RCAF then the city's senior Stampeders for six years before retiring in 1951.
