Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Tony White
Tony White had aspirations of making it to the NHL from a young age, but he didn't believe he could make it until the Washington Capitals in the 10th round of the 1974 entry draft drafted him. White had two solid seasons playing junior hockey in the Ontario League for the Kitchener Rangers, where he had the reputation of being a good two-way performer. In two complete seasons he had 35 goals and 71 assists.

A year of seasoning with the Dayton Gems of the International Hockey League in 1975 and White appeared ready to make the move to the Capitals. The following year he made the roster and played in all 80 regular season games. It would be the only year in which White would play a full NHL season. During that 1975-76 campaign, he contributed 25 goals and 17 assists for 42 points.

That was both the beginning and the end of most of White's good fortune in the NHL. He managed to play 72 games the following year, but his productivity tailed off considerably. Over the next five years he would manage to get into the NHL lineup on just seven occasions, once more with the Capitals and 6 games with the Minnesota North Stars in the 1979-80 season.

Tony tried his hand in the German elite league for two seasons, playing for Fuessen EV, before retiring after the 1983 season.
