Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Gord Walker
After scoring 24 and 28 goals in his first two seasons in the Western Hockey League as a Junior, Gord Walker exploded in year three with 67 goals and 134 points. In 1985 Walker joined the New Haven Nighthawks the American Hockey League farm club of the team that had drafted him, the New York Rangers. After scoring just 11 goals during his rookie pro season, Walker upped his total to 24 the following year and earned a one-game call up from the big team.

Walker made quite an impression in his one game with the Broadway Blueshirts by potting a goal in his NHL debut. The following year he played 30 games in the minors but was up with the Rangers for a career-high 18 game stretch. On January 21 of that year, the Rangers dealt Walker, along with Mike Siltala to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Joe Patterson.

With the Kings the right-winger didn't get into the NHL lineup that year but he was up with the next campaign for 11 games in which Walker was held to just one goal. His last appearance in the big leagues came during his second year with the Los Angeles organization, 1989-90 when he played a single game and was held pointless.

In 1990 Walker joined the Canadian National Team and spent 13 games with them but was only able to provide four points. The rest of that campaign was spent in the International Hockey League with the San Diego Gulls and then Walker retired at season's end.
