Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Claude Verret
Claude Verret was a major scoring star in a league built on offense when he put up 462 points in 200 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League games. His next stop was the Rochester American's of the American Hockey League, the farm club of the Buffalo Sabres, who had drafted him in 1982. Verret was able to translate his scoring prowess to the new league as he posted 39 goals and 90 points en route to winning the AHL's Dudley "Red" Garrett Memorial Award for the league's top rookie. That year the Sabres also gave him a look at the NHL level.

In 11 games with Buffalo Verret scored 2 goals and 7 points to cap off an incredible rookie pro season for the diminutive center. In year two he continued to flash offensive skills and again posted big numbers in the AHL, but was held scoreless in three games with the Sabres.

The 1985-86 season saw Verret in the minors the full schedule while injuries limited his games-played, then the following year he spent some time in Switzerland while also playing 36 games for Rochester.

In 1987-88 Verret took his career in a different direction by signing on to play in France. For the next six years he was a scoring star with HC Rouen. In 1993 Verret was on the move again, this time returning to Switzerland where he played out his career.
