Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Tim Trimper
Left-winger Tim Trimper was a useful two-way player in parts of six NHL seasons in the 1970s and '80s. He was a good skater with quick hands and demonstrated a willingness to play with grit throughout his career.

Born in Windsor, Ontario, Trimper was a standout in junior with the Peterborough Petes. After scoring 62 goals and helping the club win the Memorial Cup in 1979, the young forward was taken 28th overall at the Entry Draft by the Chicago Black Hawks. Trimper was also named to the Memorial Cup all-star team and the OHA's second all-star squad. He split his first pro season between Chicago and the AHL's New Brunswick Hawks then was traded to the Winnipeg Jets early the next season.

Trimper scored 15 goals and was an enthusiastic penalty killer in 1980-81. The next year he was a gritty defensive player but spent most of the next two seasons with Sherbrooke of the AHL. In January 1984, he was traded to the Minnesota North Stars for Jordy Douglas and played 20 games for the club. He also averaged over a point per game for the AHL's Springfield Indians that season before retiring.
