Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Bill Touhey
Left-winger Bill Touhey was a solid checker who could chip in on offense. He played nearly 300 games for three different clubs in the 1920s and '30s.

The Ottawa native played senior with the local Gunners and Montagnards before joining the Stratford Nationals of the Can-Pro League in 1926-27. Touhey was the top scorer in the league that year and helped the club finish in first place and win the playoff championship. He started the next season in Stratford before joining the Montreal Maroons for 29 games.

In October 1928, he was traded to the Ottawa Senators for cash and was a regular for three seasons. During this time he was effective playing on the same line with Art Gagne and Danny Cox. Touhey was claimed by the Boston Bruins in the Dispersal Draft in September 1931 and split the season between the NHL and the Can-Am League. As per the dispersal agreement, he was returned to Ottawa and was a regular for two seasons before the club was relocated to St. Louis.

Touhey never played in the NHL for the St. Louis Eagles. He spent two years in the IAHL with three different clubs then sat out the 1936-37 season. The veteran winger played three years with the senior Ottawa Senators before retiring in 1940.
