Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Ray Timgren
Ray Timgren was a solid defensive left-winger for over 250 games in the 1940s and '50s. He possessed decent offensive talent, which was more evident in junior and the minors.

Born in Windsor, Ontario, Timgren was a junior star with the OHA's Toronto Marlboros. He split the 1948-49 season between the senior Marlboros and the Toronto Maple Leafs and scored three playoff goals while helping the team win its third straight Stanley Cup. He gained a full-time place on the club in 1949-50 and scored 25 points playing with Max Bentley and Joe Klukay. The next year, he was a member of the Leafs when they won their fourth Stanley Cup in five years after Bill Barilko's overtime heroics.

During the early '50s' Toronto began to work new players into the line up. Timgren was a reliable skater on the AHL's Pittsburgh Hornets before he was traded to the Chicago Balck Hawks for Jack Price in October 1954. The steady forward played 14 games for the Hawks in 1954-55 and retired the next season after dressing for eight games with the Hornets.
