Left-winger Bob Sykes played a couple of games with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1974-75. He was a fine amateur scorer who also enjoyed some success in the minor leagues.

Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Sykes starred for two years with the local Wolves of the NOHA and was selected 65th overall by Toronto at the 1971 Amateur Draft. He then joined St. Louis University for two years then scored 13 goals as a rookie pro with the CHL's Oklahoma City Blazers in 1973-74.

In addition to his brief spell with Toronto, Sykes scored 30 goals for the Blazers in 1974-75 but slipped to 17 the next year. In 1976-77, the veteran forward played ten games for the senior Orillia Terriers before retiring.
