Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- George Swarbrick
Right-winger George Swarbrick played parts of four seasons with the Oakland Seals and Pittsburgh Penguins in the 60s and 70s. He also enjoyed a long and successful career in several minor pro leagues.

Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Swarbrick played with the hometown Canucks of the SJHL then played senior with the local Canucks and Pla-Mors. He also represented Canada at the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics before turning pro with the WHL's San Francisco Seals in 1964-65. He was named the WHL's top rookie after scoring 22 goals. The clever forward notched three straight 20-goal seasons then scored 13 goals as an NHL freshman in 1967-68. Late in the 1968-69 season Swarbrick was sent to the Penguins in a multi-player transaction that also involved Bryan Watson and Earl Ingarfield, Sr.

Swarbrick spent most of the 1969-70 season with the AHL's Baltimore Clippers then played in the WHL, CHL, and North American League before retiring in 1977. During this period he topped the 20-goal mark four times and went out on a high note with a career best 32 goals with the Philadelphia Firebirds of the MAHL in 1976-77.
