Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Doug Sulliman
The OHA's Kitchener Rangers scouted Doug Sulliman when he was 16 years old, and he played with them from 1976 to 1979. He was selected in the first round of the 1979 Entry Draft by the Rangers, along with other first round future stars such as Ray Bourque, Michel Goulet, Brian Propp, and Mike Gartner.

Sulliman made his NHL debut in the 1979-80 season while splitting the year with the team's AHL affiliate in New Haven. The next season saw Sulliman do the same until being to the Hartford Whalers. He spent three seasons in Hartford until signing with the New Jersey Devils in 1984. While a Devil, the team nominated Sulliman for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded to the player who best exemplifies "perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication" to hockey.

After four seasons in New Jersey, Sulliman was claimed in the 1988 Waiver Draft by the Flyers. He spent the last two seasons of his playing career in Philadelphia. Sulliman hung up his skates in 1990 after suffering a knee injury but returned to the Devils to become an assistant coach.
