Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Todd Strueby
Left-winger Todd Strueby played a few games for the Edmonton Oilers in the early 80s. He was a dangerous offensive player in junior who also succeeded in the minors and Europe.

Born in Lannigan, Saskatchewan, Strueby starred for the Notre Dame Hounds before moving on to the Regina Pats and Saskatoon Blades of the WHL. He was taken 29th overall by the Oilers in 1981 and also helped Canada win its first gold medal at the 1992 World Junior Championships. Strueby scored 40 goals for the Blades in 1981-82 and saw intermittent action with the high flying Oilers.

By the mid-80s Strueby was a regular in the IHL and registered three consecutive 20-goal seasons. Later in the decade he looked to the international game to prolong his career. Strueby spent parts of three seasons with the Canadian national team and also skated for the EHC Freiburg squad of Germany. He retired in 1992 after playing a year with the IHL's Salt Lake Golden Eagles.
