Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Steve Stoyanovich
Centre Steve Stoyanovich played 23 games for the Hartford Whalers in 1983-84. He was a gifted goal scorer who was at his best in junior and the large ice surfaces of Europe.

Born in London, Ontario Stoyanovich played at RPI and was drafted 69th overall by the New York Islanders in 1977. After sitting out the 1980-81 season he played two years with the CHL's Indianapolis Checkers. Stoyanovich notched consecutive 40-goal seasons and was named to the CHL first all-star team.

In August 1983 Stoyanovich was traded to the Whalers and played solidly in 23 games before he was sent to the minors. He then moved to Italy and was a productive scorer on three different clubs before retiring in 1989.
