Right-winger Ted Speers played four games for the Detroit Red Wings in 1985-86. He was a fine offensive player who excelled in college and the minors during his relatively short pro career.

Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Speers spent four years at the University of Michigan. Over this time he totaled 76 goals and was named to the CCHA first all-star team in 1983.

Speers was signed as a free agent by the Wings in 1983 and was a solid scorer on Adirondack of the AHL for four years. Apart from a four game recall to the NHL, he notched 93 goals in the AHL before retiring in 1987.
