Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Larry Skinner
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia on April 21st, 1956 centre Larry Skinner was drafted by the Kansas City Scouts shortly before the franchise moved to Denver, Colorado in 1976. When the club made its debut in Colorado as the Rockies, Skinner was also making his first NHL appearance.

Larry Skinner made an immediate impression with the Rockies. Though he only scored four goals and played just 19 games, Skinner made history by scoring the first goal in Rockies history. Skinner could never really build on that momentum. After playing 19 games in his first year, he suited up for 14 the next year, 12 the season after that and just two games in his fourth campaign to close out his NHL career.

Skinner spent the next year in the American Hockey League , then split the following one between the AHL's Hershey Bears and an overseas stint in Austria. Skinner was back in Hershey in 1982-83 but it was the end of his North American career.

In 1983-84 Skinner again headed overseas, this time to France. Skinner played five highly productive seasons, including a 50-goal campaign and a run as the league's top goal scorer, with the Paris Volants then retired from the game in 1988.
