Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Bobby Simpson
Hailing from the town of Caughnawaga in the province of Quebec Bobby Simpson was a second round draft choice of the Atlanta Flames in 1976.

The left-winger stepped directly into the Flames lineup without a day in the minors playing 72 games as a rookie and scoring 13 goals and 23 points. Simpson spent a short time with the farm team during his second season when he scored 10 goals in 55 games with Atlanta and posted 16 points in 14 games in the minors. After spending the entire 1978-79 season with the Flames affiliate in Tulsa Simpson was traded to the St. Louis Blues.

With the Blues organization Simpson remained primarily a minor league player though he did appear in 18 contests for St. Louis in 1979-80 but only produced four points. After toiling in the Central and International Hockey Leagues during the 1980-81 season Simpson signed a free agent deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 1st, 1981.

In 1981-82 Simpson produced at his best clip when he scored nine goals and 18 points in 26 games with the Penguins while producing a point-a-game pace with their farm club. The next year he played just four games with Pittsburgh then spent then returned to the minors, this time for good.

The final four years of Simpson's playing career were spent exclusively in minor pro before Bobby Simpson retired from hockey in 1987.
