Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Mike Siltala
Mike Siltala was born in Toronto, Ontario on August 5th 1963 and made his NHL debut before he had even completed his Junior career. Siltala was a 1981 draft pick of the Washington Capitals and found himself in their line up during the 1981-82 season.

Siltala played three games with the Capitals and was able to score a goal during his brief audition.

Upon his return to Junior with the Kingston Canadians Siltala, a right-winger, developed into a solid offensive player. The following year Siltala put up big numbers for the Canadians scoring 53 goals and 114 points and was named to the First All-Star Team. After completing his Junior career Siltala turned pro late in the 1982-83 with the Hershey Bears. Siltala spent the next three years in the AHL where he continued to show an offensive flair and was named to the AHL Second All-Star Team in 1985. On August 15th, 1986 Siltala signed a free agent contract with the New York Rangers.

Siltala was limited to just 18 games during the 1986-87 season, but one of them was in the big leagues with the Rangers. The following year he appeared in three more games with New York but was unable to score and in January of that season he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings.

With L.A. Siltala was unable to work his way back up the National Hockey League level. After finishing the 1987-88 campaign in the minors, Siltala took his skills overseas for his final season of professional hockey.

Mike Siltala played for Schwenninger ERC if the German League and after producing 35 points in 26 games he retired from the game.
