Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Steve Short
Left-winger Steve Short was a late draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers but never played for the organization. Short, who was born in Roseville, Minnesota on April 6th, 1954, spent three years in the minors before a June, 1977 trade sent his rights to the Los Angeles Kings.

Short played five games with the Kings during the 1977-78 campaign but was unable to register a point. Short spent the rest of that season back in the minors and also began the following year with the farm club after he was unable to make the Kings roster out of training camp. In December of 1978 the Kings traded Short to the Detroit Red Wings.

While the change of scenery still meant that Short would spent his year in the minors, the Wings did give him a one game audition during the season. Short was held scoreless in his only game with Detroit. It also proved to be his final game at the NHL level.

Short spent the next two seasons in the American Hockey League with the Adirondack Red Wings. After playing just one game during the 1981-82 campaign, Steve Short retired from professional hockey.
