Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Wally Schreiber
Right-winger Wally Schreiber played parts of two seasons with the Minnesota North Stars in the late 80s. He was a clever offensive player who put up imposing numbers in junior, the minors and internationally.

Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Schreiber was taken 152nd overall by the Washington Capitals in 1982 after he recorded 56 goals for the Regina Pats of the WHL. He couldn't make the Caps but found his niche with the IHL's Fort Wayne Komets where he notched 149 goals in his first four pro seasons. He led the league in scoring in 1983-84 and was selected to the IHL first all-star team twice and the second team once.

In 1986, the young winger committed to the Canadian national team for two years and participated at the 1988 Calgary Olympics. He also signed with Minnesota and registered 18 points in 41 games in parts of two seasons after the Olympics. He was eventually sent down to the minors then settled on a career in the German Bundesliga. He also played for Canada when they won the silver medal at the 1992 and 1994 Olympics.
