Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Ron Schock
While Ron Schock was with the St. Louis Blues, he attended a minor hockey dinner and was asked where he would least like to be traded? His answer was either New York or Pittsburgh. Of course, two days later he was traded to the Penguins.

Schock played his minor hockey with the Niagara Falls Flyers of the OHA and was a potent scorer, collecting 74 points in only 44 games during the 1963-64 season. That year, he was called up for a brief stint with the Boston Bruins. He spent the next two and a half seasons with the Bruins before being claimed by the St. Louis Blues in the NHL's Expansion Draft in 1967.

It was in 1969 that he was traded to the Penguins, and after having several unproductive years, his scoring touch resurfaced. After his first season with the Pens, Schock collected 40 points or more for the next four seasons. He was given the team's captaincy in the 1973-74 season and responded the next year with a career high in goals, with 23, assists, 63, and points, 86.

After two more seasons with the Pens, Schock was traded to the Buffalo Sabres for the 1977-78 campaign, his last in the NHL. He went on to play in the AHL for two more seasons until hanging up his skates for good.
