Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jean Savard
Centre Jean Savard played 43 games for the Chicago Black Hawks and Hartford Whalers in the late 70s. He was a natural goal scorer who excelled in junior, the minors and Europe.

The native of Verdun, Quebec was chosen 19th overall by the Hawks after leading the QMJHL with 84 goals and 180 points as a member of the Quebec Remparts and being named to the league's first all-star team. In 1977-78 he split his rookie pro season between Chicago and the Dallas Black Hawks of the CHL. The next season the ratio of minor pro to NHL games increased and he was left exposed at the 1979 Expansion Draft.

The Hartford Whalers picked Savard in the hope that he would be able to regain his scoring touch. He only played one game for his new club but registered a decent 28 goals for the Springfield Indians of the AHL. After one more year in Springfield, Savard played in Switzerland with Zurich SC and Austria's Salzburger before retiring in 1985.
