Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- George Robertson
George Robertson was born May 11, 1928 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A graduate of the Winnipeg Monarchs of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, Robertson captured the 1946 Memorial Cup before joining the Stratford Kroehlers of the Ontario Hockey Association Junior "A" Hockey League for the 1946-47 season.

In the summer of 1947, the New York Rangers traded Robertson to the Montreal Canadiens where he made his NHL debut during the 1947-48 season. While playing in one game with the Canadiens during the 1947-48 season, Robertson was held pointless and spent the majority of the season with the Montreal Royals of the Quebec Senior Hockey League.

The 1948-49 season saw Robertson play in 30 games with the Canadiens before he was traded to the Washington Lions of the American Hockey League from the Buffalo Bisons also of the American Hockey League shortly after the New Year. Even though he was traded to Washington, Montreal retained his rights for a recall.

When the 1949-50 season began, George Robertson was a member of the Cincinnati Mohawks of the American Hockey League before the Montreal Canadiens traded him to the Victoria Cougars of the Pacific Coast Hockey League.

After only a half of a season in the PCHL, Robertson joined the AHL's Springfield Indians where he played in only five games, before signing as a free agent with the Sydney Millionaires of the Cape Breton Major Hockey League where he spent the next three seasons.

The Cape Breton Major Hockey League became the Maritime Major Hockey League in 1951-52 and George Robertson became a MMHL Second Team All-Star in 1954 after leading the Millionaires in scoring.

Robertson split his time with the Saskatoon Quakers of the Western Hockey League and the Grand Rapids Rockets of the International Hockey League during the 1954-55 season before ending his career following the 1955-56 season as a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Northern Ontario Hockey Association.

Throughout his playing career, George Robertson played in 31 career NHL games, scoring two goals and adding five assists for seven points.
