Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Rob Valicevic
After being drafted by the New York Islanders in 1991 Rob Valicevic attended Lake Superior State University and spent the next four years in their hockey program capturing two NCAA Hockey Championships in 1992 and 1993. After completing his collegiate career he turned pro with the AHL's Springfield Indians and spent the next few seasons toiling in the minors and waiting for his break. That break came on May 28th, 1998 when the Nashville Predators signed him to a free agent contract.

A physical player with a flair for the dramatic, Valicevic spent the bulk of the next season in the minors with the IHL's Houston Aeros, capturing the Turner Cup title in 1999 while making his NHL debut that year with Nashville. In 19 games the right winger scored 4 goals and 6 points. The following year he became an NHL regular for the first time in his career. He played 80 games with the Predators and scored 14 goals and 25 points. After scoring 14 points in 60 games in 2000-01 Valicevic became a free agent and moved on to the Los Angeles Kings.

With Los Angeles, Valicevic was a depth player and spent a lot of time in the AHL but did get a chance to play 17 games for the Kings. Following a brief stint with the Kings organization, Valicevic joined the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in 2002-03. In his only season with the Ducks organization, Valicevic spent the majority of the time with the team's AHL affiliate in Cincinnati while playing in ten games with the parent club.

In the summer of 2003, Valicevic was acquired by the Dallas Stars.
