Claude Robert was born August 10, 1928 in Montreal, Quebec. A member of the Quebec Junior Hockey League's Montreal Nationale which took part in the 1948 Memorial Cup, Robert joined the Montreal Royals of the Quebec Senior Hockey League in 1948-49 and was a member of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in 1949-50 before making his NHL debut the following season.

The Montreal native made his NHL debut with the Montreal Canadiens during the 1950-51 season. Even though he played in 23 games with the Canadiens during the season, Robert spent some time with the Cincinnati Mohawks of the American Hockey League.

The 1951-52 and 1952-53 seasons saw Robert join the Quebec Aces of the Quebec Senior Hockey League where he was teammates with future Hall of Famer Jean Belliveau.

Claude Robert's 1952-53 season was split between the Aces and the Western Hockey League's New Westminster Bruins after he was traded by Quebec midway through the season. In 1953-54, Robert split his time with the Ottawa Senators of the Quebec Hockey League and the Charlottetown Islanders of the Maritime Major Hockey League before he ended his career following the 1954-55 season.

After ending the 1953-54 season with a career high 64 points, Claude Robert's final season of professional hockey was split between the North Bay Trappers of the Northern Ontario Hockey Association, the Fort Wayne Komets and Toledo Mercurys of the International Hockey League.

Claude Robert played in 23 career NHL games, recording one point while he was a member of the 1950-51 Montreal Canadiens.
