Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Reg Reid
Reg Reid, a Seaforth, Ontario native, earned his playing stripes through his hometown team. Seaforth was part of a wild OHA group where hometown fans were rabid for their teams. On one occasion Reid wound up in the slammer when trying to defend himself Reid bit one of the crazed fans reached for him.

The Toronto St. Patrick's signed the small left winger on November 12, 1924. Reid reported to the team six days later and saw his first action in an exhibition game against the visiting Calgary Tigers. Nerves seemed to get the best of him and coach Eddie Powers only played him for a couple of shifts. On the season Reid was used sparsely and recorded only one goal. Reg Reid played another half season with the St. Pats before being dropped by the team.

Used mainly as a spare player, the St. Patrick's decided they could find a more useful forward. Reid signed on with Stratford, of the Can-Pro league, for 1926-27. In January the team loaned him to Windsor for a game. On the season he had eight goals and three assists, his last points in professional hockey. Reg hung around the game until 1931, when he finally retired. Following hockey he moved to Stratford to work as a salesman. Toward the end of his life he moved to St. Thomas to be close to his daughter. It was in that community that Reg Reid died on January 14, 1986.
