Fred Perlini was born April 12, 1962 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The 8th choice, 158th overall selection of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft, Perlini is was a graduate of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds before joining the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League's Toronto Marlboros in 1979-80.
The Soo, Ontario native spent three seasons with the Marlboros before making his NHL debut with the Toronto Maple Leafs while still playing junior hockey with the Marlboros. In seven games with the Leafs, Perlini racked up five points including his first career NHL goal before joining the American Hockey League's St. Catherines Saints in 1982-83.
Perlini spent three seasons with the Saints while only managing to suit up for one game with the Leafs in those three years. After joining the AHL's Baltimore Skipjacks in 1985-86, Perlini spent the next eleven years playing in Great Britain with numerous teams and competing for the Autumn Trophy on five separate occasions and the Benson & Hedges Cup on two separate occasions.
An offensively gifted player, Perlini had one season with over 220 points, three seasons with at least 170 points and five seasons with at least 140 points of throughout his career in Great Britain.
In his NHL career Fred Perlini played in nine NHL games.
