Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Bob Murdoch
Bob Murdoch was born January 29, 1954 in Cranbrook, B.C. A graduate of the WCHL, Murdoch spent two seasons in the WCHL with the Brandon Wheat Kings (1971-72) and the Edmonton Oil Kings (1972-73) before playing one year with the WIHL's Cranbrook Royals.

Signed as a free agent with the California Golden Seals in 1974, Murdoch spent the 1974-75 season with the CHL's Salt Lake Golden Eagles where he was a CHL Second Team All-Star before making his Seals debut the following year. An offensively gifted player, Murdoch scored 22 goals and had 49 points in his rookie year in the NHL and played in his first and only All-Star Game that year before transferring to Cleveland after the California franchise relocated in the summer of 1976.

Murdoch played two seasons with the Barons before being placed on the Minnesota Reserve List after the Cleveland-Minnesota Dispersal Draft in the summer of 1978. Shortly after being acquired by Minnesota, Murdoch was traded to the St. Louis Blues and went to split the 1978-79 season with the Blues and the Salt Lake. After only one season with the Blues, Murdoch was claimed by St. Louis in the 1979 Expansion Draft as a fill-in before playing two more seasons in the minors with Salt Lake and the AHL's Adirondack Red Wings.
