The Toronto Maple Leafs selected defenseman Larry McIntyre in round three of the 1969 NHL Amateur Draft, 31st overall from the Western Hockey League's Moose Jaw Canucks.
As a 20-year old pro rookie, McIntyre was stationed with the Maple Leafs' minor-league team in Tulsa in 1969-70. He did dress for one game with Toronto that year and although he did not directly factor in any of the goals, he was an impressive plus-three for the game.
McIntyre played his only NHL season in 1972-73 when he dressed with the Maple Leafs for 40 games. He played another three years in the minors, retiring in 1976 at the age of 26.
