Penguins in the 80s. He was a proficient goal scorer in college and was a useful two Right-winger Dwight Mathiesen spent parts of three seasons with the Pittsburgh -way worker in the minors.

The native of Brandon, Manitoba scored 50 goals in 48 goals for the Abbotsford Pilots of the BCJHL in 1982-83. He then accepted a scholarship to the University of Denver and accumulated 90 goals in three seasons. Immediately following his junior year in 1985-86, Mathiesen was signed by the Pittsburgh Penguins and notched a goal in four late season games.

The crafty forward spent the next two years as a farmhand with the Penguins. He was recalled for six games in 1986-87 but made it into 23 contests the next year. Mathiesen retired in 1988 after registering six assists in Pittsburgh and 61 points in 46 games for the IHL's Muskegon Lumberjacks.
