Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Kris Manery
Center/Right-winger Kris Manery played briefly for four NHL clubs in the 70s and 80s. He was a decent goal scorer who enjoyed most of his success in college and the minors.

Born in Leamington, Ontario, Manery spent four years at the University of Michigan where he accumulated 111 goals. After firing 38 goals in 1976-77 he was placed on the WCHA first all-star team. A few months later he signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Barons and scored 22 goals as a rookie. The young forward also played solid defence and formed an effective forward line with Mike Fidler and Dave Gardner.

In June, 1978, Manery was placed on the Minnesota North Stars' Reserve List after the Dispersal Draft that merged the Stars and the Barons. He was a solid role player on the club for a little over a year before he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks part way through the 1979-80 season. Before the end of the schedule the Winnipeg Jets picked him up on waivers.

In 1980-81 Manery scored 13 goals for the Jets and played on a line with Peter Sullivan and veteran Rick Dudley. He was eventually sent down to the CHL's Tulsa Oilers where he scored 19 goals in 22 games. The next year Manery scored 52 goals for Tulsa and was voted on to the CHL second all-star team before retiring.
