Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Gus Mancuso
Right-winger Gus Mancuso played a few games for the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers in the 30s and 40s. He was a fine playmaker and face-off specialist who was effective for many years in the minors.

Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Mancuso spent four years with the Niagara Falls Cataracts of the OHA before turning pro with the AHL's Hershey Bears in 1934-35. After three solid years in Hershey he saw action in 17 games for Montreal in 1937-38. Over the next five years Mancuso was a useful farmhand for the club and played most of his hockey with the New Haven Eagles of the AHL.

After topping the 40-point mark in 1941 and 1942, Mancuso was traded to the New York Rangers for cash. He notched 14 points in 21 games for the Blueshirts and recorded 26 points in 31 games for the AHL's New Haven Eagles. He then spent two years in the military during World War II before returning to the minors for four seasons. Mancuso played his last few seasons in the PCHL before retiring in 1949 including a personal high 27 goals in 1946-47 for the Hollywood Wolves.
