Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Tony Licari
Right-winger Tony Licari played nine games for the Detroit Red Wings in 1946-47. He was better known as a reliable scorer in, the minors, senior leagues and Great Britain.

The Ottawa native played junior with Glebe Collegiate in his hometown then with the Blue Wings of nearby Perth. He excelled in 1940-41 on the OHA's Guelph Biltmores before turning pro with the AHA's Dallas Texans. During World War II he played with the RCAF squads in Ottawa and Vancouver before serving.

Following the War he played briefly in Detroit and scored 21 goals for the Indianapolis Capitals in 1946-47. He then split the next four years between the AHL and the senior RCAF squad. Licari signed with Britain's Harringay Racers in 1951 and was a top scorer with 134 goals in three seasons. He retired early in 1954-55 after suiting up for one game with the NOHA's Pembroke Lumber Kings.
